Lying around 18 km from the northern side of Samui in the Gulf of Thailand is the island of Koh Phangan. The Island is much quieter and laid back than Samui, with the exception of the full moon party where between 5 - 10,000 visitors arrive for the famous full moon party in Haad Rin. The island of Kohphangan is one of Thailand's real tropical gems. Blessed with golden beaches and hidden bays, people from many different countries come again year after year to experience the unique feeling of the island. Koh Phangan is approximately 2.5 hours from Don Sak and approximately 45 min. from Koh Samui Island by ferry. The easiest way from BKK to Phangan is to get yourself a joint tickets from Songserm Travel who operates joint ticket for Boats and Speed boats, buses, railway, air) to Koh Phangan. Or another option is to take an 60 minute flight by Bangkok Airways daily from Bangkok to Samui and catch the speed boat to Phangan. There are lots of ways to get around the island, you can take one of the taxi for a little amount of money,or you are able to drive you can rent a motor bike or motorcycle and do it in your own time frame.
